Description
Open space frames the dense lettering, leaving the words to carry the whole front with little distraction. Grâce reçue means “grace received” in French. On the Classic Dad Hat, the phrase is rendered in dark burgundy capitals whose weight makes the two-line arrangement feel compact even as the upper word opens into an arch.
GRÂCE rises toward its middle: the  is the tallest upright point, while letters at either end lean outward and fall away toward the edges. Its circumflex is not joined to the A. A thick chevron hangs separately above it, with a slim white break preserving the distinction. Beneath, REÇUE holds a straighter line in tightly spaced capitals, and the Ç sends its curved cedilla below the baseline.
The embroidery follows the lettering’s broad slab serifs and exceptionally heavy strokes without adding an outline or shadow. Solid burgundy forms are cut through by white counters and narrow openings, so the dense letter shapes remain legible. The contrast between the arched top line and the level lower line gives the French phrase a measured, deliberate structure.
