Description
Thin, deliberate lines run through several of the text’s letters, as if each stroke was cut and scratched by hand rather than machine. Sharply pointed terminals on the serif characters create a fractured silhouette, while the uneven forms and the streaked interiors lend an aged, weathered appearance that sits in stark contrast to the smooth, solid ground they’re printed against.
- The central phrase is dramatically larger than the rest and is pressed so closely together that it fills nearly the entire print area.
- The lowest line contains tiny, widely spaced characters with horizontal rules flanking both sides, and each character in this line is separated by a single dot.
- The hues are intentionally subtle, keeping all elements within a tight monochrome of beige on cream, making the texture and shape of the letters the primary focus.
Every word on the artwork is drawn in English, quoting an English translation of Mark 13:31. The print appears on a men’s oversized heavyweight crewneck t-shirt and the interplay between the dense letterforms and delicate texture rewards close attention to detail.
