Design story & product details
The burgundy lettering draws you in right away, with unusually tall and tightly stacked capitals at the top spelling out “I WAS MORE AVAILABLE.” Each letter carries crisp, squared-off serifs and fine inset lines that trace the heart of each stroke, creating a shadowed effect within the heavy fill. There are specks and little breaks scattered throughout, giving the type an irregular texture, almost as if some parts are fading out or escaping notice, but only in places. The whole block is precise and direct but never rigid—there is a sense of control in the spacing and the weight of each form.
Below that, a much leaner line reads “WHEN THIS WAS HYPOTHETICAL” in smaller, widely spaced capitals. The line is framed by three stepped burgundy bars on both sides, with the bars angled differently from one another at the ends—a detail you notice after sitting with the artwork for a while. Those bars seem to anchor the words and almost measure out their distance. The print’s compact block of text leaves a good deal of breathing room above and below, letting the design pause where it needs.
