Description
The embroidered dad hat features two short lines of magenta block capitals that leave much of their gray background undisturbed. Thick slab-serif forms spell out “J’Y ÉTAIS” across the upper band, nearly reaching both the bill and crown seams. A small angled parallelogram forms the acute accent above the É, giving just a hint of dimension. The wedge-shaped apostrophe matches the solid heft of the letters.
Below, “PRESQUE” is laid out in a sharp arc, with each letter incrementally adjusted to curve upward. The arc is pronounced enough to shift the character size from the center out—a detail easy to overlook at first. This arrangement means the gray beneath the arc is more prominent, creating a slack, open zone behind the embroidery near the edge of the hat.
The phrase itself is French, translating to “I was almost there.” The directness of the lettering, neither shaded nor outlined, leaves the embroidered texture and bold pink hue as the only embellishments.
The negative space, especially along the lower edge, shapes the composition more than any extra mark would. Only the slogan is present, with no other agenda or logo set into the fabric.
