The small word “the” is squeezed between “flies” and “fast,” as if the sentence had to hurry to keep up with the jet. On this heavyweight crewneck tee, a cream two-seat jet with orange-red wingtips banks hard through navy brush strokes. Next to it, My Sister Flies the Fast One brags loudly and plainly about the pilot in the family.

The dark, hatched figures under the canopy make the drawing feel hand-inked, like an old air show poster. It suits a proud brother at his sister’s flight school graduation.
