Description
A blocky rectangular platform hovers above angled shapes that suggest stylized water, immediately drawing the eye with its sharp outlines and sense of floating weight. Resting on the platform are two hexagonal dumbbells, their sharp edges and rough lines reminiscent of vintage athletic illustrations. There’s a layered interplay of navy blue and light beige: the darker color lays over the pale ground, giving the artwork a textured, partly weathered feel that’s especially visible around the weights and platform.
The oversized block lettering reading “POOLSIDE DRYLAND” takes up much of the upper visual field, with thick and jagged capitals jostling together in tight proximity. Each letter is filled in fully, and the dense color makes them stand out even more against the empty background space. The large amount of open area above the weights and around the irregular water shapes sharpens the composition’s sense of balance and intentionally unfinished edges.
