Description
Lettering in gothic blackletter, filled in cream and shadowed in dark red, stretches across the upper middle of a flat grey ground with the phrase ROSES presented in heavy strokes. Each letter is marked by thorn-tipped serifs and thin black cross-hatch shading for dry, almost carved depth. Below, the words AFTER THE FROST mirror the letter style on a smaller scale. Just above these, a pair of red roses with petals edged in white and soft cream hint at frost settling after a freeze—one bud closed, the other in cold bloom. Their stems twist through the words, descending into a thick snarl of icy, grey-brown vines covered in serrated, snow-dusted leaves.
