Description
Inside the crowded center of the tee’s design, the cream text reading ‘ROSES’ is drawn in heavy blackletter, with meticulous etched hatching inside each wide stroke. Parts of the word nearly disappear where iron bar and rose vine cross in front of the lettering, slipping behind the scrollwork and upright spires of the wrought-iron fence. The smaller lettering ‘BEYOND THE RAIL’ interrupts with a horizontal band, its serif capitals cutting through the middle of the tangled scene and grounding the composition.
Thick-stemmed roses, painted deep red with carefully cream-edged detail, curve across the upper middle and into the lower corner. Each vine features small hooked thorns and trails off into segmented leaves shaded in grey. The bottom banner, marked with diamond shapes and freestanding serif letters for ‘THE GARDEN CONTINUES’, rests on a single plain iron bar. No empty space breaks the mass of detail at the center, but the grey ground is left open at the edges.
