Design story & product details
Narrow, hollow letters spell Seoul in tall uppercase strokes, held inside an irregular rounded outline. Seoul City Sketch turns that hand-drawn title into the starting point for a dense city collage on a Unisex Longsleeve T-shirt.
Three sharply pointed mountains are packed with winding contour lines, while an aeroplane climbs through the open space between the lettering and the roofs. The buildings overlap in a busy stack of upturned eaves, gates, steps, tiny windows and patterned walls; rounded tree crowns recur on fine trunks.
The lettering names Bukchon Hanok Village, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Dongdaemun, Insadong, Gwanghwamun Gate, Seoul Tower, the National Museum of Korea, the Hangang River and Gangnam. These are Korean place names in romanisation: Seoul means capital, Bukchon northern village, hanok a traditional house, Gyeongbokgung a palace of great blessing, Dongdaemun Great East Gate, Gwanghwamun Great Light Gate, Hangang the Han River, and Gangnam south of the river.
A slender tower appears beside a cloud-edged lettering panel near the base of the collage. Pale grey linework leaves the title interiors and small intervals between landmarks white, with ovals and short dashes threading through nearly every remaining gap.
