Description
Star-diamond ornaments catch the eye at the beginning and end of the top text, where a tall blackletter phrase, THE NIGHT OPENS, rises above the design. Below that, a finely drawn moth stretches its wings, rendered in cream with black cross-hatching that creates soft shadows and subtle dimensionality. Each of the moth’s wings shows two dark eye-spots alongside banded details and a feathery pair of antennae branching outward.
The thorn-like serifs of the lettering echo the thorned branches winding through the composition. Curved lines in matching cream and black twist behind the moth and form looping bramble shapes, enclosing the central elements but leaving grey open corners at the sides and bottom. A careful look reveals a small cross poised just above the banner’s arc at the foot of the image.
The words WINGS WITHOUT WITNESSES appear on that curved black ribbon, drawn in thin, serif capitals with a cream outline.
