Stonework lettering spells out the phrase in deep maroon linework, detailed to suggest each serif brick was chiseled and fitted in place, then left to crack and chip over time. Their rough edges catch beveled shadows, and engraved roses with thorned stems and stippled leaves wind through and around the words. Most of the density gathers along the upper and center cluster, with petals and flower buds woven into the relief, as if nature presses through crevices and the trace of broken stone.

Small stone fragments are scattered heavily at the base and left side and taper off toward one edge. The contrast between dense illustration and the solid grey of the surrounding ground gives the central mass more definition. Between the main words, condensed serif letters for “gives way” are outlined and filled with matching tones, separating the two halves of the phrase without distraction.

The screen printed detail picks up the fine stipple and crosshatching used in the roses, keeping even the smallest chipped marks visible on the hoodie. The rectangular banner below anchors the art with a line of serif capitals, bordered and punctuated by diamonds: FLOWERS THROUGH MORTAR. All lettering appears in English; there is no Korean on this garment.
