Description
Blackletter titlework arches high above a wild trio of thistle blooms, their saw-tooth leaves and spiky heads carrying a lot of presence at the top. The word ‘THISTLES’ pushes up in dramatic gothic curves, each letter edged with white and crossed with fine hatching, followed by ‘ABOVE THE’ in sharp, neat serif capitals. ‘RAILWAY’ barrels across the middle, deeply shaded in navy with jagged, thorny serifs emerging off select strokes. Individual thistle leaves and bristling contours fill the margins, their detailing tying the upper and lower motifs together, while two small sparkle marks add a tiny glint of contrast nearby.
Inside the lower ‘RAILWAY’ letters, there’s a miniature landscape—round moon, multi-coach train, and layered pines in silhouette—flowing across the arch of a high stone viaduct, one headlamp catching below the dark mountain shapes.
