Description
A Maltese-style cross is rendered in measured color contrasts, balancing a muted grey-blue with bolder blocks of navy, black, and a subtle maroon. Each horizontal arm of the cross presents a deliberate sequence: navy blue on one side, black anchoring the center, and a dark maroon completing the span. The cross as a whole repeats the grey-blue in its vertical arms, precisely in the same hue as the trim outlining the artwork and the fill of the text below.
The single word “VESPERS” follows underneath, formed from tall, hollow serif capitals. Each letter sits slightly uneven in height, the whole word arcing up and down as if gently tilted against a wide field of grey. Letter shapes alternate broader vertical lines and thinly drawn serifs, making the interplay of thickness part of the visual rhythm. The hollow interiors, filled with grey-blue, echo the color found in the cross itself, with the shared outline employed again here—a dark navy that sharpens both text and emblem together.
All these shapes are stitched onto a classic dad hat by embroidery, which means the colored blocks and fine lines are defined by thread, not print. The use of ample empty space—above, below, and on each side—lets individual elements settle quietly into position. No other words or symbols are present in the artwork.
