Description
A circular badge artwork uses cream-toned ink against flat grey for contrast, layering type and illustration in a dense central cluster. Serif lettering curves around the outer ring, forming the phrase ‘WEIGHT ROOM TRAINING FOR THE LONG RIDE.’ The heart of the circle is visually packed: the word ‘GRIP’ repeats in bold, decorative serif letters, aligned in a three-tier column, their outlines and thick-thin strokes picked out in cream. Each ‘G’ curls inward, a detail easy to miss at a glance, and the stacked words are partly overlaid by an etched drawing.
The hand, forearm visible, pinches two weight plates between finger and thumb, drawn with cross-hatching and stipple for texture. The illustration is precise enough to include surface scratches and drilled holes in the plates, grounding the art in the ordinary marks of heavy use. The presence of this level of fine detail makes the hand and gear more than graphic shapes—they feel convincingly handled, integrated with the type in a single graphic field.
Negative space between the rings gives the badge a boundary, but all its attention is on the closely layered middle. Beneath the main circle, small arcs and a stylized bicycle chain-link nod to connections between lifting and riding but are kept subtle and spare.
The artwork covers the front of a men’s oversized heavyweight crewneck t-shirt, with each visual element held securely in place by its symmetrical organization and crisp linework.
