Design story & product details
A crowded illustrated subway carriage brings its passengers together in a dense field of faces, coats, bags and shoes. A standing rider breaks the rows of seating with a large cream newspaper covering their face, while the Heavyweight Unisex Crewneck T-shirt carries the hand-drawn scene in black outlines, muted red and small touches of blue.
- Heavy, irregular black serif lettering forms “Wie läuft’s?” over two lines, followed by narrow black rules that resemble newspaper columns. The German question means “How’s it going?”
- The newspaper has a fine black border and a curved upper edge. Beneath it, the hidden reader wears a red jacket, cream shirt, red tie and black trousers.
- Two cream dogs share the open lower floor; the dog on the right wears a red collar. Triangular hanging straps and converging overhead lines tighten the crowd around them.
Dense short hatching gives hair, faces, clothing and footwear a worked-in texture, while the largely clear floor creates a noticeable pause within the packed carriage.
