Open sky surrounds the raised arms of a fan at the top of the upper-deck stairs. He has a glove in one hand, a fist in the other, and an American flag snapping beside him. The joke is in the number: 162 steps, one for every game of a baseball season, and he’d climb them all again. Far below, a green diamond waits.
