Description
The badge print features a domed observatory, its ribbed cupola open to the night and telescope angled upward, all rendered in fine cross-hatched detail. A stippled moon hangs to one side while stars, each a different size, dot the sky within the two-tone navy and cream circle. Small, planet-like orbs line the double border ring, picked out in cream against the navy.
Both the top and lower banners on the design use blackletter capitals, with the upper arc reading the club’s name, outlined in cream with navy infill, and a small fleur-like ornament crowning the first letter. Below, the lower body of the print shows a bold ribbon reading ‘THE HILLTOP DOME’, its weight and style matching the linework. A tiny oval ribbon underneath reads ‘EST. 1959’ with two small stars, anchoring the image above the steps and pediment entry at the observatory’s base.
Pine trees ring the foot of the rocky hill, their forms chiseled with engraving lines. The whole emblem has the feel of an old copperplate crest, sharp and deliberate in every mark. Only the club’s English name, motto, and founding year appear in the badge.
