Design story & product details
Jagged Korean lettering cuts across the lower half in white brush strokes, edged in black and worked with a grey, stone-like grain. Its cracked, dripping edges give the lettering an uneven finish, while the Korean words translate as Soul of Steel, Sword, Joseon Swordsman. On this unisex Longsleeve T-shirt, that forceful line is answered by a small gold medallion below, its radiating scrollwork ending in a hanging tassel and dark wing-like ornament on either side.
Armored Joseon Swordsman brings a stern warrior forward with a topknot and a headband marked by one character. A scar and blood streak mark his right cheek; crossed swords reach out behind each shoulder, their hilts finished with tassels. Dark navy and maroon lamellar armour is traced in gold, including floral engraving across the shoulder guard, while rope tassels cross the chest. A red-and-blue swirled taegeuk-like circle fills the space behind his head. At upper left, a black plaque has a gold border and four Korean characters stacked in gold and white ink. The flat grey field around the illustration leaves these sharply defined parts unobscured.
