Ink laid flat on a heavyweight unisex crewneck t-shirt keeps every chip in these letters as a hard little fleck, which is the reason the distressing reads as worn paint and not as blur. Braking Needs Work climbs from lower left to upper right in two lines of slanted block capitals, the first word about twice the height of the second. The fill is an off-white cream, edged in thin navy and thrown forward by a red-orange shadow that drops down and to the right. Look at the G and the K and you can see the speckling thicken toward their edges, as if the sign had been scraped along a wall.
Underneath, a skater seen from behind is crouched low and losing the argument with his own speed. His perforated helmet nudges up into the bottom of the lettering. One arm is flung out left for balance, his cream tee is shaded in halftone dots, and his back foot is off the board and dragging, kicking up a spray of grit. That foot is the whole joke: the navy skid mark behind him sweeps round in a wide brushed ellipse, so he has clearly been at it for a while and is no closer to stopping. It suits anyone who skates, or who learned to and still has the scars, and it makes an easy gift for the friend who always bails last.
