"Butterfly Static" Unisex Longsleeve T-shirt

Gray holds black, pale blue-gray and white in a strict, posterized contrast: a hanbok-clad musician plays gayageum while a gayageum enters diagonally from the upper left. On the Unisex Longsleeve T-shirt, Butterfly Static treats that image like a cut-paper poster, leaving enough gray around it for the right-hand lettering panel to read as its own surface. Five monarch-style butterflies, drawn with dark veins, break the geometry at the perimeter and through the musician; one near the lower middle crosses the figure instead of merely hovering beside it.

A narrow white outline encloses the large Korean word Arirang, rendered in a silvery calligraphic hand whose grain and uneven brush edges remain visible. Smaller repetitions shift to the left in both fine outlines and solid forms, while two pale-blue cursive Korean lines complete the lyric beneath. The Korean words mean, in ordinary English, “Arirang, Arirang, Arariyo; look at me,” ending with a plea to be seen as if one were a flower appearing in the dead of winter. The lower-right field remains nearly bare, which lets the lyric and the dense figure stay in deliberate tension.
