Nine metal spikes come straight at you from the sole of a lead shoe, and behind it a hurdler in a navy singlet folds himself over a scuffed red bar. The heavy ink and cross-hatching give it the grit of an old sports comic. The brushy words beneath, Clear It at Speed, read like a coach’s last instruction before the gun. On this long-sleeve tee, that huge spiked sole is the detail that makes it worth owning.

It suits a high school hurdler heading into a new track season.
