The print gives I Checked the Ending the weight of a built object on the Men’s Oversized Heavyweight Crewneck T-Shirt. Cream letter faces carry fine halftone dots, while thick navy outlines and deep extrusions make the words appear raised from the surface. Those navy depths drop down and right, even as the three lines climb from lower left to upper right. Each line grows larger than the one before it, bringing the final word and its large round period into the strongest part of the composition.
The hardback book interrupts that steady climb. Positioned to the right of The, it overlaps the C, K and E in Checked, linking the sentence to the object it describes. Cream pages fan upward in a curling spray, with fine engraved crosshatching giving them a different texture from the dotted letters. Behind both, a tilted maroon oval dissolves into halftone dots around its edges. The dense lettering and open pages leave breathing room at the corners and beyond that fading border.
