"Milk Peanut Study" Classic Cotton Tote Bag

The black condensed Milk / Peanut lettering begins in the upper right in thick, even strokes, giving the composition a poster-like register. On the Classic Cotton Tote Bag, a glass of milk fills the left field; through its transparent walls, a white, tan, and black shih tzu with its tongue out appears within the liquid. Small red and black diagonal hatch marks break the otherwise flat gray ground.

The central white roundel clarifies the visual joke with the words “It’s printed / no dog inside / not real,” while small crosshair marks meet it at four points. At the lower edge, two whole peanuts and fragments counter a toast slice where a hand guides a metal knife through glossy brown peanut butter, leaving visible swirled ridges. The small study labels include a barcode marked SNK-26-07 and an Archive Snack Dept notice.

Flat fields, uniform headline fill, and sharply separated black, red, white, brown, and gray elements give the artwork its constructed print-study language. The dog is treated as an illustration seen through glass, not a photographic trick, while the knife and peanut butter receive the most tactile rendering. Bottom-side type carries Still Life 07, Food Study Unit, and a bold 26 beside diagonal stripes.
