A seated, black-and-white stencil figure drives Painted Defiance, cut from broad fields of ink and pushed forward by sharply spiked hair that sweeps with the surrounding marks. On the Unisex Longsleeve T-shirt, the figure’s bent leg runs diagonally through the composition while a lace-up high-top shoe meets the lower edge.
