Design story & product details
A jagged cream patch, edged like torn paper and tilted at an angle, holds the heavy block-lettered title of the artwork: read the crossing swells. Under those offset letters, a breakwater composed of linked, tetrapod-like stones stretches diagonally to a lighthouse, drawn in fine interlocking forms surrounded by dense crosshatched waves in deep teal and white. Broken filmstrip frames run up the left, blank and vertical, while at the top right, a gridmarked swatch features teal arrows and a real-looking paper clip. Near the margins, small crosshair marks make reference points, one at mid-level and another closer to the base.
- Cream, black, and gray tape label texts at the bottom add context: coastal studies, outer breakwater, and the date 2026.
- The gray ground is undistracted, keeping the collage elements crisp and clearly offset.
- The cream diagonal arrows are each contained within a precisely gridded field, recalling diagram notations.
