Design story & product details
Along the left side of the artwork, a pine tree twists dramatically, its trunk forming a natural S-curve above jagged stone. You can see the cross-hatching in the rock, giving depth and a sense of age beneath the pine’s grip. Each root wraps and clings as if holding steady against the elements, while slight tufts of grass find places to grow at the very base.
The branches cast out at sharp angles, clustering most of their spiky, dark teal needles near the crown and reaching densely toward the right edge. The branches themselves are drawn with a controlled hand, their rigid forms contrasting with the more fluid movement of the trunk. Light and space dominate the lower trunk and surrounding background, leaving the pine, rock, and grassy patches to claim the viewer’s eye.
Beneath the scene, the cream-colored wording ‘SHELTER ON THE RIDGE’ spans wide in condensed block-serif letters. Each letter catches the eye thanks to a double-line detail inside, outlined in dark teal for definition. These letters arch in a single, even row and feel integral to the drawing rather than simply added on.
