Design story & product details
Where the lower corners of SIDE nearly meet, the outlines form a small dark junction that gives the upper word its compressed shape. Side Bearing is a Classic Dad Hat carrying the words SIDE BEARING in two oversized lines of lettering.
The top line rises into an arch: the S leans left, the E angles right, while the I and D crest between them. Beneath a clean white interval, BEARING extends farther in a level run. Its letters press close enough to create an almost unbroken black edge below, while several interior openings remain as slim dark cuts.
Heavy squared slab serifs give both lines their block-built structure, softened only by the broad turns of the S and G. The mark is rendered in black-and-white embroidery, with white letter interiors contained by substantial black outlines. The clear gap between the rows keeps the two words distinct, even as each line remains closely packed. There are no symbols, borders, or accompanying images beyond the lettering.
