Above it, Skates Stay in the Car arches in white varsity capitals edged in sky blue. It is the motto of anyone who keeps a pair in the trunk in case a smooth parking lot turns up. Embroidered on a dad hat, the curved stripes and stars give it the feel of an old rink jacket.
