Pale cream skin and blue-grey clothing meet dense black contour work in Surprised Comic Woman, a pop-art illustration built around a woman’s startled expression. On the Heavyweight Unisex Crewneck T-shirt, her wide eyes, open mouth, visible upper teeth and tongue, and cheek-pressed hands give the drawing its abrupt comic beat. Jagged blue-grey streaks cut through the black curled bob, while muted brown shading gathers at the nose, eyelids, mouth, and wrists.
- Thin pale yellow rays fan behind the head, leaving white space around the tightly gathered face, hands, and hair.
