Cream highlights and rust-red fills play against deep green and brown across the dense, Gothic uppercase lines. The contrast is heightened where the words alternate between rust-red and deep green, and heavy shadows throw the grouping into relief. Each letter’s surface break is deliberate, with speckled wear all through the fills, and the first ‘T’ carries an extra set of long, rough vertical streaks not found elsewhere.
- The tree cross-section beneath is broad and oval, its pale interior traced by thick, uneven rings and deep cracks, framed by rough bark.
- Small block capitals reading ‘ANNUAL GROWTH’ follow a curve across the upper centre of the exposed wood, fitting tightly with little margin.
- Every line and gap compresses the text and tree together; even the ring’s centre is distinctly shifted, with a crack reaching toward the upper-right edge.
