Design story & product details
Round studs mark the band on the cowboy’s broad black hat, a small interruption in an otherwise densely composed Western graphic. Wild Spirits Ride Free brings its lettering and portrait together on a Unisex Longsleeve T-shirt: Outlaws of the West is arranged in three forceful lines, while a curled tan banner carries Wild Spirits Ride Free in narrow black capitals.
At the right, a bearded man wears a red neck scarf beneath the hat’s wide brim. A cigar projects left from his mouth, with pale smoke curling beside his face. Behind him, a red sun is crossed by cream cloud streaks, and small desert mesas with spiky plants form the low horizon along the bottom.
The mark is made through tightly packed contrasts. Tall slab-serif letters use pointed notches, heavy black outlines and cream edging, with distressed tan filling their upper areas and brick red through the lower portions. Red-and-black flourishes occupy the remaining gaps near the top and bottom, while pale space between the elements prevents the dense illustration from becoming a solid field.
