Design story & product details
A wilted rose, drawn from behind and below, is the largest thing here: the spiky sepals and the swollen calyx face you, and the petals fall outward around them, crumpled and ragged at the edges like dried leaves. Around it, in heavy slab-serif capitals, the artwork on this unisex longsleeve t-shirt reads Your Note Survived The Flowers, full stop included, with the top line arching up over the bloom.
The stem is what the first glance misses. It runs diagonally down to the lower left, thorns and all, and cuts straight through the words, splitting Survived between the V and the I and passing behind Flowers. Just under the bloom a ribbon is knotted tight around it; one end loops out to the left, the other trails in a long curl to the right and comes back up behind the top line.
The rose is built from fine engraving-style hatching and stipple, the kind of line work found in old botanical plates. The lettering is made differently. Each letter is on its own torn scrap of cream paper, tilted and uneven like a ransom-note collage, and the charcoal fills are mottled with halftone speckle and worn patches, so no two letters match. Everything is cream and grey-black, nothing else.
It suits anyone who keeps the card long after the bouquet is gone, and it makes a dry, fond gift for the person who wrote it.
