Design story & product details
A tilted silver-grey and black boombox drives Beat City Nights, a Unisex Longsleeve T-shirt centred on a densely layered sound-system graphic. Its two speaker cones are ringed in red with black domed centres, while horizontal metal bars cross the face beside a cassette window, rectangular controls, knobs and a narrow tuner scale. Cream “Beat City” lettering rises into red “Nights,” with “Loud & Live” following below.
Black headphones drape over the boombox’s upper-left edge, and a black record with a red centre emerges from behind the opposite side. Red and cream ribbon loops thread between the hardware and the type. Gold four-point stars and long tapered flashes break around the outer edges, while small black equalizer bars appear beneath the lowest words.
The lettering is built from tall, heavy forms with pointed serifs, dark outlines and pale edging. Textured fills keep the letters from reading flat, and every line angles upward toward the right. Overlap is deliberate throughout: ribbons cross the equipment, the record disappears behind it, and only narrow gaps remain between the separate marks.
