Description
A red-crowned crane is shown standing in profile on a weathered grey rock, its folded wings trailing subtle black and white feathers along a cream-toned body. The crane’s head is turned to the right, the thin red patch on its crown and the black stripe down its throat clearly worked out. Its slender beak extends forward with careful definition.
Clustered hibiscus blossoms trace the upper and lateral edges, rendered in gradients of vibrant pink, lavender, and soft white. These flowers emerge among dark teal leaves on delicate brown stems. The arrangement gives the piece a distinct natural density along the borders.
The center and upper right open into a pale blue-green sky, gently fading into softer bands of blue-grey that suggest shifting mountains and water. The aged paper surface provides warm beige undertones and mottled, irregular marks that appear throughout the softer background wash.
