"Midnight Blue Quartet" 11oz Ceramic Mug

Ink turns Midnight Blue Quartet into a compact band scene, with four players pressed into a full-height arrangement against unbroken grey. On the 11oz Ceramic Mug, navy, cream and warm tan separate the figures without loosening the crowded rhythm of shoulders and knees.

Two standing guitarists frame the seated drummer and the keyboardist at right, who plays from a folding stool. One guitar carries a blonde-wood body; the other is a dark hollow-body, each held in a heavy contour traced with tiny frets and knobs.

Dense cross-hatched stipple works through jackets, trousers, hair and instrument bodies, while the cream skin and guitar fills remain smooth. The contrast is especially clear around the low drum kit: its bass drum is left plain, and the cymbals resolve as narrow double-line ellipses.

An amplifier at lower left has a gridded grille, with a cable drawn out toward the guitarist’s foot. Nothing interrupts the flat grey field behind them, so the small overlaps and ink grain carry the whole image. The empty field gives no horizon or ground line to anchor the quartet. Their gestures make the structure feel immediate.
