"High Desert Mesa" Classic Dad Hat · Embroidered

Ochre brown and orange-red meet against the black linework of High Desert Mesa, an embroidered Classic Dad Hat built around a broad ribbon. The band climbs in a gentle arch through the design, then breaks into forked tails at both lower sides. Its heavy contour follows each edge, including the folded corners and the pointed cuts at the tails. “High Desert” is the only lettering, formed in bold uppercase slab-serif characters that echo the ribbon’s brown fill. The letters are packed closely together and rise almost from one border of the band to the other, with black outlines keeping every character distinct.

Behind the upper edge, two flat-topped rock forms give the artwork its mesa reading. The left formation is taller and stepped; its smaller counterpart appears to the right. Both use black silhouettes and sharp interior creases, so their angular planes remain legible beside the curved band. A deliberate contrast appears where the straight rock edges meet the lettering’s arch. Nothing fills the lower middle beneath the ribbon, leaving an open field that lets the forked ends and central words carry the composition. The landscape is reduced to two formations, one band, and the space between.
