Description
Gold-edged Korean lettering rises over a battle scene where Admiral Yi Sun-sin is depicted in layered scale armor, each plate and emblem carefully drawn. He holds a vertical staff in one hand, the other quietly grounding at his waist. A muted red disk frames his helmet and beard, while behind him a stylized dragon’s head opens from the prow of a warship, its rail spikes and close-set dark roundels suggested in the hull.
Tattered flags trail to the right, set amidst dense virescent waves rendered in black, cream and edged with gold. Angular gold Korean script, larger than the others, overlaps parts of the figure’s robe, while a band of smaller spaced characters runs below, divided by horizontal rules. The original Korean words mean “Patriotic Hero Who Saved the Nation, Great Admiral Yi Sun-sin of the Republic of Korea.” Designed as a continuous wrap, its margins remain white.
