Design story & product details
Open white space leaves the celestial marks unusually distinct: dots, diamonds and pointed stars drift between the main forms without filling the field. Per Aspera Ad Astra builds a large tan moon into a balloon, its dark charcoal craters, fine engraved lines and worn white breaks narrowing into a knot. A thin cord runs from that knot to the mouth of a dangling, long-tailed canine, whose pale interruptions echo the moon.
On the Heavyweight Unisex Crewneck T-shirt, the connection between balloon and animal gives the image its odd, suspended logic. Uneven short rays and stippled cloudlike curls ring the moon. At left, Per Aspera Ad Astra appears in three bold serif lines; the Latin phrase means “through hardships to the stars.” Heaven Bound is bracketed by rules and stars at right, while The Ascent expands below the animal in mottled tan serif letters marked by irregular dark flecks.
- The moon narrows into a balloon knot before the cord begins.
