Description
The largest shape here is a sweeping arch of gothic script, sharply edged and tightly packed across the upper chest. Underneath, the rose illustrated in the center reveals meticulous crosshatching and torn petal edges, circled by twisted barbed wire and pronged with small thorns and leaves. A nail bisects the ring vertically, lending a harsh detail to the organic elements.
- The top and bottom text, “PETALS AGAINST IRON” and “THE BLOOM HOLDS ITS SHAPE”, are rendered in a hollow-to-solid blackletter that almost fuses together at the arches and swells, forming a symmetrical crown above the artwork.
- Ornamented stars near the lower phrase add a small flicker of brightness amid otherwise dense gray shading.
- Negative space is thoughtfully preserved at both sides and the bottom corners, sharpening the intensity of the central design without making the layout crowded.
