Description
An arrangement drawn in the Chinese gongbi manner features a scholar’s table rendered with close attention to brushwork and detail. Books wrapped in deep-blue and red floral cloth sit in stacked order, their cream edges visible beneath a scholar’s rock and the pale celadon censer. A kumquat tree rises from the low, scrolled pot, its orange-red fruit showing next to glossy green leaves and open blossoms. Brush pot, water bowl, and ink-stick are set out alongside, tools of writing captured in blue-and-white and celadon glazes. Red patterned fabric drapes down, its tassel curved and cord looped tightly along the border.
Below the table, one more blue cloth-wrapped book lies next to a fresh kumquat resting on the textured parchment ground. A red seal mark appears near the lower right, a nod to traditional Chinese artworks, but no other lettering is present.
