"Small Mercies" Classic Dad Hat · Embroidered

Empty space does much of the work in Small Mercies. A broad, curved interval opens between the two words, reaching its widest point beneath the raised middle of the top line. “SMALL” is rendered in solid dark blue-purple uppercase letters, its heavy slab serifs following a pronounced arch: the A reaches the peak, while the S and L fall away at either side. Each character subtly turns with that rise, so the word reads as one continuous curve, not a straight line bent afterward.

On the Classic Dad Hat, embroidered lettering preserves the design’s blunt graphic construction without adding imagery around it. “MERCIES” holds a level baseline beneath the arch and extends a little farther at both sides, giving the lower row a horizontal measure. Narrow white channels keep the oversized letters apart, while the white cutouts inside forms such as the A and R remain especially clear. There is no border, shadow, secondary colour, or ornament to interrupt the two-line arrangement. The phrase refers to small acts of kindness or relief, expressed through a compact typographic composition.
