The bare foot is what gets me first. One heel rests on an exposed coil spring while a curly-haired stargazer in a chunky sweater leans into a long refractor aimed at a single hot-pink star. The couch underneath has no cushions, just a wooden frame and springs, and the heavy navy lettering owns up to it: “Yes, my telescope cost more than my couch.”
