"Whittled Wooden Saturn" Premium Wooden Framed Poster

Every line here is a grain line. The planet is drawn the way an engraver would cut it, in fine hatching and stipple, and those marks double as the figure of the wood: concentric ovals tighten into a knot near the top of the sphere, and a second swirl turns low on the right side where the curve falls away. A curved seam splits the ball into a paler honey cap and a darker amber half below, as if two turned pieces had been fitted together. The ring is the part that makes it. It is a flat ribbon like a shaving lifted off by a plane, looping wide on the left, crossing in front of the sphere and trailing off at the lower right in a thin hooked curl. Where the seam meets the ring there is a small notch, the kind of nick a blade leaves when it stops.

Colour stays within honey tan, amber and burnt orange, with a deep teal-navy doing the work of shadow under the sphere and inside the ring loop. As a framed wall print it reads as Saturn from across the room and as a piece of carving from an arm’s length. It suits a desk wall, a workshop, or anyone who likes both astronomy and hand tools.
