Design story & product details
A broad arch of light gray letters gives Bear Hug Heart its first outline: BIG HUG curves with the rounded contour of the grizzly’s head, its bold sans-serif forms lightly grainy and edged in thin dark strokes. Beneath it, HEART arrives in larger block lettering across the lower portion of the drawing, crossing the bear’s legs and the girl’s socked feet. The image on the Unisex Longsleeve T-shirt is built around the upright bear, whose gray-and-black hatched fur carries a surprisingly fine, hand-drawn density.
The embrace is not symbolic at a distance. Both arms close fully around the girl, and the claws on the overlapping paws remain visible at her back. She has long straight hair, closed eyes and softly pink cheeks, with a nightgown scattered in hearts. BEAR LOVERS appears below in narrow, carefully spaced capitals. Flat gray fills the ground, leaving room at the upper and side edges while the detailed figures stay tightly held within the lettering. The contrast between coarse fur strokes and clean letter forms makes the small heart motif easy to catch, even where the lower word overlaps the figures.
