"It Flew Once" Heavy Blend Unisex Pullover Hoodie

The tail of the paper aeroplane is breaking apart. Where the folds should end in a clean edge, the metal splits into stacked, crumbling layers like slate coming loose from a cliff, and that one damaged end explains the three words around it. On this pullover hoodie the lettering reads It Flew Once, with the plane wedged between the two lines and its nose still aimed at the upper right.

The plane is drawn as hammered, pitted metal, heavy enough that flight seems unlikely now, and its underside falls into saturated blue and black halftone dots. It overlaps both lines of text. The top line climbs steeply with it, each letter taller than the one before, so the W ends up the largest character in the phrase. Below, the single word runs level and much wider, with a rounded O and C, and the plane’s lower fin dips into the gap above the N.

Every letter is built from silver strokes shaded from grey to white like polished chrome. Two or three royal blue pinstripes run inside each stroke and follow it around every bend. A thin black outline closes each shape, and a dark shadow drops to the lower right, which gives the words the look of raised metal badges. It suits anyone with a dry sense of humour about old plans, and it makes a good gift for a pilot, an engineer or a retired paper-plane champion.
