Design story & product details
Cream and charcoal create a gentle contrast on the artwork, where a seated figure is shown from behind with loose, wavy hair gathered into a bun. Fine hatching describes the skin and hair, while the cloth draped around them shows soft, deep folds and textures. Irregular cracks outline the shoulder and the stone seat, touched by a trailing ivy vine. There is a subtle, pale bird perched beside the figure’s arm, its plumage picked out by individually drawn feathers.
The oversized Korean text running across the upper and right side adds visual weight, carved with thick faces, pointed tips, and a cracked, extruded shadow effect. The phrase, in English, means it’s a safe place. Below the lettering, a narrow rectangle displays “IT’S SAFE HERE.” in slender capitals between horizontal bars. There is an interplay between the dense areas of linework and the open space around the silhouette, giving the artwork room to breathe.
