Open gaps between the curling arms leave the octopus room to slip away, and that is the joke. Octopuses are famous escape artists, and this one looks back with a drowsy, half-closed eye, as if getting out is no effort at all. The sepia pencil drawing on this heavy crewneck sweatshirt sets the words Make an Elegant Escape in swashed cream capitals along its thickest arm, beside big ringed suckers.
