Description
Metal-inspired spiked lettering spells “MYEONGNYANG” in cream and muted gold at the top, cracked and splintered to echo the shattered masts below. The effect is heightened by thin black outlines and sharply extended letterforms, all set against a black sky mottled with smoky, dark cloud shapes. All attention draws toward the centered golden compass emblem, lightly tangled with the angular lettering, before shifting to the churning seascape.
A navy and white whirlpool rendered in dense stippled linework dominates the lower portion, its spiraling current clustering wreckage—broken ships, shattered barrels and torn banners—densely at the corners. A warship with an intricately carved, fanged figurehead holds the calm at the vortex’s center, sails bowed but intact as it weathers the fury. The jagged border of the print adds to the sense of chaos, giving each edge an irregular, torn-paper finish. “Myeongnyang” is a Korean place name, known for a historic naval battle; the only lettering here, it carries this meaning.
