Design story & product details
“Sailing the Skies” is drawn in tall gold serif lettering, its dark outlines and shaded edges giving each stroke a cut-metal depth. The words follow a dark teal banner that curls at both ends beneath a fine gold edge, with the elaborate capitals sweeping across its folds. The smaller “the” appears over a circular compass rose, making the lettering part of the apparatus instead of a separate caption. Cream clouds press into the spaces below, where small gold stars punctuate the open areas.
A left-facing round fish carries the main contraption through the middle of the illustration. Its cream spiked belly meets an ochre back marked by dark spots, while pale ribbed fins project from the sides. Concentric brass rings frame a glossy black eye. Riveted bands and buckles break up the body; one panel contains a cross-divided porthole, and a small tower raises a flag. Ropes lead down to a brown boat with teal panels, round windows and an anchor emblem. On the Unisex Longsleeve T-shirt, the ropes keep the fish and boat visibly connected.
