Design story & product details
A seated skier fills most of the illustration, his back turned and his head bowed over a tall ski boot. Dense grayscale pencil shading follows his tousled hair, fleece pullover and wrinkled trousers, with white highlights picking out folds and edges on the Unisex Longsleeve T-shirt.
Crossed suspenders run down his back as he bends forward to fasten the boot’s multiple clasps. His other foot is still in a knitted sock, a small detail that makes the scene feel like one particular moment in getting ready. The slatted wooden bench carries folded fabric and snow-flecked gaiters, while two pole-handles lean at the left with their straps hanging from them.
Below the figure, My Knees Prefer the Stories curves into a broad arch. The tall, condensed serif letters are filled black and edged with a thin outline, packed tightly enough to crowd the line from end to end. Their scale gives the words a substantial presence beside the heavily worked drawing; the reference to knees and stories adds a dry joke to the practical business of buckling up.
